When you post on the board, there will be a canvas already there for you. You can't upload anything onto the Oekaki. ^.^

i finally downloaded java, and wanted to start with some editable oekaki, but how do i make theline art work so that i can color it.

It explains this in the help section on the Oekaki. Just click on "new topic", look underneath the drawing area and it will show the list of unfinished drawings you can edit.
