Have we liked this pup to anyone yet? I'm trying to keep up with all the information but I might be making a mistake here.
My guess is that unless I'm missing something this is raires pup,
first off their hints suggest that the dog is something between very rare and very common, as well as neither being mythical nor a pest.
The way I interpret this pup is that it's eye is a gem, but the patches on its skin could be a disease. Gems are very rare, but disease is oftentimes common. While a gem is oftentimes associated with mythical powers, disease is... well a pest. A combination of those two would be something new, so it's neither of them directly.
The third clue says that many love them, almost everybody hates them, but most stare at them in awe. This would fit with my theory above as most people love gems, almost everyone hates sickness but a combination of those two? That would definitley inflict awe on me.
Now to the answered questions, Raire stated that their dog has purple eyes which would fit here. They also said that the pups zodiac would be aquarius. Aquarius birthstone is Amethyst which would fit the purple stone the pup has for eyes. It was also stated that the pup has a red aura, which kinda reminds me of the glow effects we can see on it? They at least seem reddish or purpleish to me.

Lastly, just a minor detail, but Raise has colored every one of their CS tags in their last staff dogs, oftentimes in a gradiant showing both the sets colors, again this would fit perfectly here.

OKAY 👀 I've had a CS account for a long time, but this is my first year being actually active in the community for the September Staff pets, so please forgive me if I am WAY WAY off!
BUT! Has anyone guessed if this is Desmond's dog yet?


My thoughts:

1. Uhhh... Purple? Ish? Pinkish?? I am partially colorblind, I don't always know exactly what I'm looking at lol

3. The idea came to me as I was opening SAI to work on my outcome.

1. this staff dog has pinkish/purple eyes (the lightest color is #9F83A7 lol, I used a color picker)
3. Sei whale??? (They are pronounced differently but my brain jumped there)

Sei whales have some spotting as well (as least in artistic depictions; I had some trouble looking at the underwater pictures of them to really confirm that). And I wondered if the lil bumpy bits could turn out to be barnacles instead of horns or wings!

But there are so many cetaceans that I could do
Belugas and humpbacks and strap-tooths and risso's and blues and rights and hourglass dolphins and white sided dolphins and spotted dolphins and false killer whales and and and ---!!!!

^ I also assumed that if Desmond did do another cetacean, it wouldn't be on this list.

My only issue with this hypothesis is that the dog I mentioned has a pointy tooth and the Sei whale has baleen... So I could be very wrong here.
...Also it's a bobtail, which deviates from the "minor edits for stage one" trend. So maaaaybe Desmond's hasn't grown yet? :/ I'm talking myself out of my hypothesis as I write hahaha


PS: I am loving the discussion and questions! It's been a really cool way to learn more about each staff member :D
