I organise my groups in species.

For example:
A ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A1 ~~~Dogs~~~
A2 ~~~2008~~~
A3 ~~~2009~~~
A4 ~~~2010~~~
A5 ~~~2011~~~
A6 ~~~2012~~~
B ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
B1 ~~~Cats~~~
etc

Its pretty easy to manage, plus its easy to see what you are missing. :)

Thank you very much! Took me half an hour, but I have nicely organized pet groups now. Thanks!

Here's a quick snapshot of my method.

Image

I do that for each year - different groups for each month/holiday/event. All of the separate groups are determined by how the CS Archive separates them. Once it's created, the only real maintenance required is updating the total number of pets for the given month, when all of the growing pets are identified and changing that to COMPLETE when you've got one of all of them. It's HIGHLY organized, so wonderful if you're obsessed with structure and it's easy to use the Archive in connection with it. My trade groups are split by year, with a separate auction group (with a space before it in the name) at the top just in case.

The method is relatively simple, and if I happen to need to add in a group, it's easy to format so that it lands in the right spot. :)

You could either put a number or letter but I tend to put spaces because they a re not actually visible. The more spaces, the closer to the top so if one group has 5 spaces and you want another above it, you need 6 spaces.
Always looking for trades!
