I do that too xD Looking up the VERY specifics and then noticing... who cares? No normal reader knows anyway. But then it's too late already XD
History documentaries are great too, that's right! Recently they showed one about Henry the VIII :3 The Tudors are interesting, to my mind, and Henry is an interesting bad guy XD
I usually wing the distances and all that, but I kind of always need to have a visual aid about my worlds. It's easier for me to remember things if I have a map. But that's me ^^
I love the little details. They make the worlds/places so much richer <3 I've read one Harry Potter fanfiction once and the writer included so many awesome details that made it so very real and three dimensional (also details about the landscape the characters were travelling through). It's my favourite story ever, actually xD
Sounds like a cool world <3 And yay for lizards! I don't have developed that many worlds as of now, but I do love the world I created for some characters I drew. It's also very in-depth with notes about several different cultures, the background of the world, flora and fauna, histories of places... I also already had names for villages, towns and cities. And the continents, of course. Sadly, I never wrote that story D: Maybe I will someday, I still like it.
Oooh, I love the differences within one forest. We went to a forest once with the whole class and a forester explained all the different aspects, from trees to bugs to seasonal changes. It was fascinating (though I doubt too many of my classmates thought so too XD).
I can imagine how much fun it is ^^White Tigeress wrote:Oh yes I know how you feel. I have this huge series planned out and Im only on chapter 3...well I tried writing today but I just couldn't get into this mood where I HAD to write and flow my ideas onto paper(computer really). I wrote about 3 paragraphs and stopped, unable to continue. I like animals better than humans xD so thats what I'm writing about, but I can't seem to connect with the very well right now. I didn't want to make it a story that the animals have powers, except for one is a necromancer. No one even reads my stories and when someone does it's usually my sister who gives harsh feedback. It makes me feel like a failier so I don't want to write anymore. So many times I have had good ideas that circle the drain and fall into the sewer... My mom always says that I'm a good writer and so do all my english teachers but lately I can't feel that spark. Maybe I need to write two stories, one with powers to fill my hunger for that, and the one I'm writing now. The problem is I'm afraid both will go down the drain because my thoughts are too jumbled or I'll get bored with both or since I'm working on two my brain will not work for them with the two different perspectives. I'm not sure if I should take the chance or focus on the one I'm writing now...
Are you writing what you really want and love to write? I found that I lose motivation when it's something I can't put all of me into. If it's not a theme I love, if it's not characters I love, I lose the motivation.
If it's writers' block you could try reading THIS and then follow the link at the end ^^ Maybe it'll help.
- ...Wow, that last part really helped me. <3 Thanks. I think I know what's wrong now.
I want to make a book so terribly bad that I'm trying to force stuff. The fanfics that I'm starting to make are things I REALLY want to do, just for fun and for, hopefully, the enjoyment of other people.
