The Fallen Moon

I wonder what would happen, if the moon fell from the sky?
Golden, silver, glowing, a soaring thing so high.
No doubt that it would crash upon the rugged surface of,
This gentle blue-green planet that I so often love.
Would elephants tremble at the tremble it would make?
Would cheese-loving mice everywhere think that it must be fake?
I wonder, I wonder...what would happen to the night?
Would there simply be none; that would not be right!
Would the stars alone be enough to light up so much blue?
Would there be enough light, for me to gaze upon you?
I see it now, in your eyes, that to you it matters not,
As long as the night is here, the moon is not forgot.
The stars may fade, the sun may flicker, but none are like our moon.
The oceans dance, the flames may die, but none are like our moon.
Our golden, silver, glowing, soaring, dancing, watching moon.
