THE SIXTH POWER
~~~by The*Sixth*Power
Six prophecies foretold the birth of the powerful six.
Growing up with powers unique; to save the world, they only have six days.
...
The Enemy lurks in the shadows, looking for something of which no one knows.
But when he finds it, all will fear the future not one has foretold.
Six prophecies to foretell the birth...
Six children cursed with powers...
Six days to save the world...
Faith Laura Evergreen and her one-year-elder brother, Thor Steven Evergreen, were born with special abilities. Faith could run faster than the speed of light, while Thor had the strength of three men with superhuman strength. But never before had either dreamed there were others like them, and their lives might all be in danger. Well, that is until Faith begins to have strange dreams of the near-future, and knows it's not deja vu. Her dreams lead her to search for the other four, as so to bring them together as a group to defeat the enemy, Cody Breach. But it seems that Mr. Breach knows exactly what Faith is doing, and will do everything in his power to stop her. Except, he's realized he may have underestimated her...
OUR NAMES ARE FAITH, THOR, DESTINY, CLYDE, HOPE, AND BLAZE. WE EACH HAVE A POWER UNIQUE TO OURSELVES. TOGETHER, WE MAKE AN UNBEATABLE FORCE. TOGETHER, WE MAKE
THE
SIXTH
POWER!
Oh me! Oh life! of the questions of these recurring,
Of the endless trains of the faithless, of cities fill’d with the foolish,
Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more faithless?)
Of eyes that vainly crave the light, of the objects mean, of the struggle ever renew’d,
Of the poor results of all, of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me,
Of the empty and useless years of the rest, with the rest me intertwined,
The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life?
Answer.
That you are here—that life exists and identity,
That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.
Not Deja Vu ~1~
But when he finds it, all shall fear the future not one has foretold...
Faith woke with a start, and relaxed when she found herself in her bedroom, laying in her cushy bed. There were no strange men or teenagers with extraordinary powers here. Just her. Wait, what was that? A circle of light encircled and illuminated the face of a teenage boy who got closer and closer and---
"Thor!" she yelled, sitting up. "You pretty much gave me a heart attack!" She placed one hand on her heart and the back of the other on her forehead, then pretended to faint, collapsing dramatically into her fluffy pillows.
"Silly," Thor teased, flashing the flashlight he held over Faith. He was six foot four, had an unusually deep and gruff voice, and sported a nice naturally dark tan, wavy dark brown flippy hair, narrow hazel eyes, and very buff bodily features. Because if his height, he also had a slightly annoying habit of towering, no matter how hard he tried to break it. But, all in all, he was quite handsome.
"So, what's up?" Faith wondered aloud to Thor. She had a pretty good idea about why he was in her room in the middle if the night.
Thor frowned. "Dreaming again?" he asks in concern. Despite his intimidating size, he was actually the most loving person Faith knew. Their parents had abandoned them hen they found out both their children had special powers. Yes, special powers. Faith could run faster than the speed of light; meanwhile, Thor had superhuman strength. Wait, no, make that twice more the amount, no!, thrice more the strength of a superhuman.
Faith acknowledged this with a nod. "It's the same one, over and over again," she told her older brother in puzzlement. "And for some reason, I feel like it means something."
"Nonsense!" Thor snorted. "Believe me, it's nothing to be afraid of. It's merely a stupid nightmare that keeps bothering you," he assured Faith after seeing her look of disbelief.
But Faith wasn't convinced. If this were merely a nightmare, as Thor had told her, why did she have it every night now? If it were déjà vu like she had previously thought, wouldn't it have happened already, instead of coming back, night after night? It definitely meant something, but what? Faith was determined to figure it out.
~2~ Forget to Show
Destiny closed her eyes as she exited Greendale High's media center. Quinn was supposed to meet her there, but the entire school knew that Quinn could not be trusted to keep a promise. Destiny had been stupid to forget that.
Now she tracked down her best friend inside her head and found Quinn standing beside Cory's locker, flirting with Cory. You idiot, Destiny thought with a sigh, and walked to Cory's locker.
Upon arriving, she put a smile on her face. "Hey, Cory," she greeted Cory. Cory smiled back at her.
"Hey, Destiny," he replied. "What's up?"
"Not much," she told him with a shrug. "I just need to talk to Quinn for a few moments." Destiny was turning slowly as she answered, and fully faced Quinn when she said, "moments". She took Quinn's lanky, pale arm and pulled her away from Cory, who waggled his fingers at her. Destiny had to agree: Cory was hot. His white-blonde hair fell into perfect flips over his forehead, his skin was slightly tan; he had dark, dark brown, most black, puppy dog eyes, and although he was thin, he certainly was somewhat buff. When he flexed his muscles, you could always tell.
"Quinn!" Destiny hissed. "What're you doing?"
Quinn was obviously surprised. "Uh, talking to Cory, what did you think?"
"You were supposed to meet me in the media center!" Destiny reminded Quinn. "Remember?"
Quinn's eyes became huge and bulging. "I was?" she cried out. "I can't believe I---"
"I can," Destiny interrupted.
Quinn burst into tears, alarming Destiny.
"I'm sorry!" she wailed. "I have the worst memory on Earth! You can't seriously be upset with me because of it?!" She stared at Destiny pleadingly. "Are you?"
"Well, I'm upset you didn't remember," Destiny muttered, "but I'm not mad. That'd be unfair to you."
Quinn threw her arms around Destiny. "I understand," she breathed in her ear. "I promise I'll try to do whatever I can to remind me of important things like this!"
"Thanks." Destiny smiled, hugging Quinn back. When they broke apart, she asked, "To the library?"
"To the library!" agreed Quinn happily, and arms linked, the two skipped off to the media center.
Hi? Isn't anyone interested? I guess not. My writing does suck, I guess.
