a poet's perspective of the world

feel free to interpret these however you wish, it's more fun that way, isnt it?

i appreciate feedback always, tell me how you interpreted my poem, what you like/dislike about it and constructive criticism, just don't post here.

there's that famous line,

''you cried wolf, so I came running
QUESTION: am I the wolf or the savior?
is my smile too sharp or just my teeth?''

and my answer to that is,

my saviour! you came running to me as i called out your name
void of hesitation, neither
any sense of shame, and quite frankly-
to answer your question,
your teeth seem just as sharp as your merciless grin!
and now, the real question-
were you ever the saviour or were you just the sheep in wolf's clothing
bound by vindication?

see now, the only problem with perceiving the world through a neutral black and white perspective, is that it's even more unrealistic than looking at the world through rose-tinted glasses!

despite that-both ideals have something in common, painfully obvious ways of avoidance, poorly hidden deception and inevitable ignorance!

[QUINN!]

you ask why you bite without reason,
but rather differently, i would say that
everyone who was once an angel
had been given a reason to grow
that set of sharp teeth,
you didnt actually think you did that on your own accord, did you?

[QUINN!]

you pulled me in, and like moth to a flame
i am drawn to you, i succumb to you
devote my everything to you only
and from the moment my eyes fell upon yours
i fell in love with not only those eyes
but your soul
from this day on
i will love every part of you

if you are patroclus, i am achilles
if you are the sun, i am icarus
if i am the moon
you are my stars
and if i am alive
you are my oxygen

[QUINN!]

i reached out to you, calling your name
your gentle hands cold to the touch
which grasp mine
are the ones that will save me

[QUINN!]

free of conviction, yet still restrained by vindication
i look at your restless eyes and i cant help but to think,
isnt your mind tired of holding onto all of those grudges from past restriction?

[QUINN!]

you claim omniscience, intelligence
yet still feign ignorance-- god-forsaken walking contradiction!
your words unveil hidden incoherency
and as hard as you tried to conceal veracity
as everything comes spilling out, you know it's too late
did you really think you could deceive everyone forever?

[QUINN!]

gently under your hands
i crumble

you held me


and it felt like home

[QUINN!]

the hand of revenge and regret
which grasps mine tightly
and makes sure to follow my every move
gripping harder each step i take
it's presence looks me in the eyes and tells me i can finally move on
and so it lets go of my hand.

and on my back i carry past hatred, grudges
weighing me down, making it harder to walk
and it's existence gently
pats me on the back
and says
'you can rest now'

and so the burden which i once
carried alone
floats into the air
turning into dust.

and freedom
and a long-awaited feeling of lightness,
blooms in my veins like flowers
and it grows into my soul
twisting into a bouquet
with every step i take.

that once feeling of revenge
and envy
and regret
finally says

'you earned this
you waited for this so long
use it sparingly'
