The Arena wrote:The arena is where adventurers come to test their mettle, show off their skills, and hone their abilities. Adventurers face off against each other in tournaments, and are awarded arena tokens for besting opponents and winning rounds. Those who climb to the top of the bracket can earn themselves unique prizes.
About wrote:- There are three tourneys held each week. Registration is opened every Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Results are generally then posted Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, but this may change depending on scheduling conflicts.
- The three classes of tourneys are categorized by the overall stats of the adventurers entering them, to allow for an slightly more even playing field. Level does not effect the results of tournament rounds- so feel free to enter your non-adventuring crew!
- You earn 3 arena tokens * the round number for a win, and 1 token * the round number for a loss. Once your adventurer has lost, they are eliminated from the bracket.
- Since a tourney round can have any number of player-submitted entrants, the system will generate NPC entrants as needed to fill in any missing space.
- Arena tokens can be spent in the arena shop. Currently, it's a little bear, but will expand- so don't feel pressured to spend your tokens right away!
- Posted token counts for a tourney are not summed up through the entire post like exploring, but your token count at the time of the round- don't forget to note this incase you have multiple adventurers in one round!
Scoring wrote:- Tournaments are set up in a single-elimination round format, and adventurers are eliminated from the tournament on their first loss.
- Good stats aren't everything - a round's win is determined by a combination of factors, such as if the adventurer's chosen attack has an advantage against the other's action, their dice roll, and their stats- and are calculated on a best of 3 turn format.
- Adventurers randomly choose an action from a list of actions available for the area. The default actions are physical attack [strength], defend [perception], cast a spell [intelligence], and weave a charm [charm].
-
- Strength is strong against intelligence and weak against perception.
- Perception is strong against strength and weak against charm.
- Intelligence is strong against charm and weak against strength
- Charm is strong against perception and weak against intelligence.
- Scores are calculated by this formula: floor(([stat for the action taken, such as strength for a physical attack] + [dice roll / 2])* [1.5 if there is an advantage against the opponent]). If your adventurer rolls a 20 and their opponent does not, they are guaranteed a win for that turn. Likewise, if they roll a one- a loss!
- For example, if an adventurer chooses to do a physical attack, and their strength is 15, against an opponent who is casting a spell [therefore having advantage], and they roll a 12, their score will be : (15+6) * 1.5 = 31.5, rounded down to 31.
- Some tournament locations offer different attacks, that allow for opportunities for certain stats to be used more.
