Don't worry, though, I gave up on the background. It evens out the effort put into the shading

Lovely shading and highlights.
Doodle + shading actually looks really good. It's an interesting style and I quite like it.
And pfft. I love how you "gave up" on the background, but it still ended up looking rather nice.
