even in nature a lot of animals follow the same a common body shape, more so in convergent evolution. but for so many people's original species, closed species, or "pay me $200 to make your own" to look so much the same or generic animal. it just irks me.

just how differnt are the 13 fox-lynxes are? or all the hundreds of fox-wolf fursonas. eevee and neopet wocky knock offs

poofy tailed canine-felines, generic beasties. for one. who knows maybe i'll do a "look, it's a midievil uniocorn with bunny ears!

most of the time the only defining differnce between beasties would be "this kind have glowing teeth" or "mine lays eggs" but over all. it just seems the pet/art/whatnot communities are full of very common generic features, with a "hey only I am allowed to make calines!

so here is thick, fluffy, big "fox tail", "lion mane" cat cub snout beastie drawn in the odd blend of anime eyed realistic animal. ok. maybe not so much anime eyes

I understand having people pay for YCHs because it's basically a commission in your own style, but having people pay for adoptables that are literally a generic dog? Like for example, a dog colored like a german shepherd or husky with no designs. It just confuses me cause someone could easily make a german shepherd OC. Now if you have a ton of original designs then obviously, sure you can sell them.

personally, i'm perfectly ok with generic species, right up untill users begin to pester others and claim that their animal character is 'copying' their 'completely original species'. i've seen plenty of people try to 'confiscate' certain characters off people becuse it was 'copying' them, when the characters in mind were simpily real life animals, like wolves.

once there was someone (on another site) who claimed that one of my big cat characters was copying their 'original species' simpily becuse it had multiple tails. Like, seriously?

people can make whatever they want, generic or not, but at least recognize that if you make a generic species that a lot of random characters are going to "steal your idea"
