────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Please note that we do not allow parts of the Stars base to be traced or redrawn unless necessary for an edit. This includes redrawing parts of the base to better match your edit style.
Scars (includes torn/notched ears) Claws (default or custom-drawn) Expression edits (see this guide for details on nr expression vs common edits; includes thin/wide pupils) Blind Accessories (necklaces, feathers, plants, etc.; feathers behind the ears are not allowed) Companions (fantasy companions are allowed; shouldn't be another domestic cat) Missing or broken legs / eyes / ears / toes
Whiskers (includes no whiskers) Teeth/fangs Pupil shape (thin/wide pupils are expression; no pupils is a pupil edit; no limit to what the shape can be, as long as it's appropriate) Eye shape (see this guide for eye shape vs expression edits) Eyelashes Sclera color (can be any color and any number of colors and still grouped as just sclera color) Ear placement (within reason; should just be rotated; here is an example of the approximate maximum rotation) Pointed ears (cannot add any additional height, or they're considered tall ears as well) Shorter tail (must be at least half the length of the regular tail; should move the original lines, or else adds a fur edit [example]) Ear tufts Minimal fur edits (see this guide)
Unnatural eye colors (see list of Stars natural vs unnatural eyes here) Round ears (should still be original ear height) Long tail Short ears (anything shorter than original ear height) Heterochromia (different-colored pupils [excluding black, white, or a darker/lighter shade of the eye color] count; no limit to number of colors) Medium fur edits (see this guide)
Bob tail (less than half the original tail length) No tail Curled/kinked tails (curled tails can be any length and cannot have a tail length edit listed; see this guide) Tall ears (anything taller than original ears) Folded ears Curled ears Polydactyly (counts as one edit regardless of how many paws are polydactyl) Max fur edits (see this guide)
Reverse munchkinism Split tail Multiple tails (up to 3) Double ears Chimerism (combines two impossible coats) Albinism Vitiligo (examples) Pseudo merle (silver/smoke that stops working in some patches; examples [please note that not all examples on this page are pseudo merle]) Blue-ginger (examples [please note that not all examples on this page are blue-ginger]) Karpati (examples at the top of this page) Brindled bicolor (tortie where the red-based pigment fails and turns white) Finnish mutation (examples near the end of this page) Somatic mutation (patch of black-based pigment on a red-based cat; cannot be a legal tortie color combo)
To understand fur edits better, check out this slideshow! To understand expression vs eye/mouth/muzzle edits better, check out this guide! If you're applying a StarClan lines edit item, here are the guidelines for how to do so! If you're looking into unnatural fur color in Stars, check out this guide! To better understand curled tail edits, check out this guide! Click here for a guide on mythical level edits in Stars! Due to previous edit retirements, cats with a tuft tail (UC) or sleek tail (C) edit on their edits list now roll for an additional min fur edit in litters. Q: How long should we wait for our purchases to be banked before asking about them? A: Usually, I will approve purchases ASAP - no poking necessary! Q: When is the store restocked? A: Typically somewhere around the first few days of the month! There isn't an exact schedule and restocks aren't always announced. Q: Who can approve my MYO? A: The only users permitted to officially approve MYOs at the moment are myself (Swishy & Broken), I Like Bees, and Mythz! Q: Can I buy MYOs with stardust? A: Not usually, but on rare occasion there might be a sale that will use stardust! Q: May I create a cat off-Oekaki? A: Yes, you can find the info on our [url=x]off-Oekaki MYO thread[/url]! Q: I'm not added to the MYO cover! How do I make my cat? A: Just post on this thread to ask to be added and I'll add you asap! ^^ Q: Can I buy MYO tickets / edits / stardust with tokens? A: If there is an announcement made stating this, then yes, you may buy Stars currency/items with CS event tokens in place of C$ during events! The token to C$ conversion can be found in the announcement. Different tokens may have different conversion rates, and prices may change throughout the duration of the event, but neither of these are guaranteed. Purchases generally stop some time before the end of the event to allow for trade-in time. EDITS Q: Does my Common MYO (C MYO) get unlimited common edits? A: Yes! Q: Does my Uncommon MYO (UC MYO) get unlimited common edits? Does my Rare MYO (R MYO) get unlimited uncommon and common edits? A: Yes to both of these! All MYO tickets get unlimited edits of the rarities below the ticket rarity. For example, an uncommon MYO ticket gets unlimited common and NR edits. Q: Can I add another edit to my cat after it's already been approved? A: After a cat has been approved, you may not edit the design without purchasing the proper rarity edit from the MYO store or shop located on the main page. Once this is done you should let us know that you've used an edit on one of your cats here. All edits to existing approved cats must be applied via color-in and receive approval again. Q: How do I apply a StarClan lines edit (Star's Greetings item)? A: Here are our guidelines for how to apply a StarClan or Dark Forest edit to your cat! Just like any edit item, please make sure to apply the edit via color-in (do not edit the original reference), get the edit approved, and post a "used item" form on the archives. GROWTHS Q: Can MYOs be kits/apprentices? A: Yes! You will be responsible for their growths, and the date that they can grow will be given when they're approved. Q: What should I do if I want to add an edit that will only appear on my reference once my cat is grown? A: You should list every edit your cat, once grown, will have when posting the original kitten/apprentice reference for approval. If you do not list this edit we will only be able to assume that your cat will have the default lines, and you will need to apply edit items for any new edits shown. Q: When can my MYO grow? A: Your MYO can grow from kit to apprentice 3 weeks after the MYO was posted, and apprentice to warrior after an additional 3 weeks! If you skip the apprentice growth, your kit will still take 6 weeks to grow to a warrior. These growth dates go by the time your cat was posted, not the time they were approved. Growths cannot be approved until the day they are scheduled to grow. Q: Can I post my MYO's growths in advance / during the approval process? A: Yes! You're welcome to post all three (or two) growths at the same time, to ensure all their markings and edits are accurate and won't require future editing or use of edit items later down the line. However, your cat's growths cannot be approved until the date(s) they're scheduled to grow, and you may not use their growths until the growths are approved! |

Swishy & Broken @ Wed May 19, 2021 1:07 pm
While exploring, you have a chance to find food/herbs, encounter some friendly faces, and even find rare items! However, remember this is a survival game! Your cats may get sick, engage in battles with predators, fight in border skirmishes, or receive random injuries. Your cats will not die in explore unless you opt-in to death. Everything you do in explore will earn you experience (EXP / XP), which is used to level-up and earn cool rewards (below)! Here are some pointers to help you get started! 1. To begin, fill out the explore code provided below! You may pretty the code up, but please keep all the information from the base coding clearly visible in the post itself (not linked somewhere offsite/on another thread). Here is a handy checklist to ensure you have all the required info. 2. When you first start out, you’ll receive three free posts. These are given out per user, not per clan and provides your cats time to gather food and herbs! Your cats will gain no hunger for your first three posts. They also won’t encounter any predators or border skirmishes, fall ill, or receive any random injuries. 3. Max of six cats (adults/apprentices) on patrol, please! Additional cats can be included in your writing, but they won't count towards the rolls and shouldn't be linked in the "cats on patrol" sections. Kits cannot be added to the patrol list! 4. HP = health; HUP = hunger! All of your cats will start at 0% HUP (hunger) and 100% HP (health). Find out more information about HUP in “hunger & custom prey” and on HP in “health & healing”. 5. (Optional) If you’d like, you may customize your prey/predator list and/or opt-in for death! Just fill out the forms, post them on the explore thread + link them in your future explore post(s)! 6. Explore writing can be about anything, but should ideally end with / connect to a patrol! It’s a good idea to leave your explore post open for writers to jump-in, because the writer who responds will be writing about any prey/herbs found and any mini-scenarios encountered. Alternatively, you're welcome to send a patrol out without any writing as well. 7. After you've posted your explore post, wait for a writer to reply to your post before writing another one! Writing a quality explore reply can take time, so please be patient. Writers have one month (from the time they claimed your post) to get a response out to players, though it typically won't take that long. Your post wasn't skipped; we have multiple writers claiming different posts, and some might finish their replies sooner than others. For ease, you may also check if your post has been claimed and find all your prior posts and replies on our explore log! 8. When a writer responds, you may (or may not) receive a mini-scenario! If you’re still on your three free posts, you’ll encounter one of our friendly npcs! Read more about npc tasks and other mini-scenarios here! LEVELS To level up, you'll need to earn experience (EXP / XP) through exploring, participating in prompts, or sometimes even events! You'll earn +10XP for every explore post posted, as well as additional experience for writing, participating in battles, finding herbs/food, etc. Every time you level up, you get a reward! When you level up, your previous experience is "spent" on the level up and will not roll over to your new level. For example, if you have 135XP and are level 0, you'll level up to level 1 and have 35XP left. You cannot skip levels. All users start at level zero! Experience listed is how much is required to reach that level (+ here is another way to visualize this). Level one: 100XP| Rewards: +1 FP, +50 SD Level two: 200XP | Rewards: +1 FP, + 1 Herb, +1 Common Edit Level three: 300XP | Rewards: +2 FP, +1 Herb, +1 NR MYO Level four: 400XP| Rewards: +2 FP, +2 Herbs, +1 Uncommon Edit, +1 Stellar Remnants Level five: 500XP | Rewards: +3 FP, +2 Herbs, +1 Random Custom, +150 SD Level six: 650XP | Rewards: +3 FP, +3 Herbs, +1 Star's Blessing, +1 Boon Of Fertility, +100 SD Level seven: 800XP | Rewards: +4 FP, +3 Herbs, +1 C MYO, +1 Shooting Star Level eight: 950XP | Rewards: +4 FP, +4 Herbs, +1 Semi Custom, +300 SD, +1 1UC MYO Level nine: 1000XP | Rewards: +5 FP, +4 Herbs, +1 UN MYO, +1 Rare Edit Level ten: 1200XP | Rewards: +5 FP, +5 Herbs, +1 UR MYO Level eleven: 1400XP | Rewards: +6 FP, +5 Herbs, +1 Supernova Level twelve: 1600XP | Rewards: +6 FP, +6 Herbs, +1 Myth Edit |
Swishy & Broken @ Wed May 19, 2021 1:08 pm
To survive, your cats require food! Food points (FP) can be found randomly on patrols. The amount of food you find varies by season and number of cats on patrol. During some seasons, your cats may receive a bountiful hunt — this doubles the FP they find! Your cats will gain +10% HUP (hunger) per patrol. This hunger gain only applies to the cats sent on that patrol. For your first three explore posts, none of your cats will gain any hunger. If a cat reaches 60% hunger or above, they will lose -10% health every patrol they go on, until they're fed enough FP to lower their hunger below 60%. If you are running dangerously low on FP, you can purchase or swap for some from Mousespeck. If you have some spare FP, you can also trade those to Mousespeck for stardust, which can be used to buy cool items from Starclan’s shop! FEEDING YOUR CATS Each FP you feed a cat removes 10% hunger (1FP = -10% hunger)! When feeding your cats, remove the prey items from your inventory and place them in the “inventory items used” box of your explore post! Make sure to also update your patrollers’ hunger accordingly in your explore post. You can choose to split a larger prey item with multiple cats! For example, you can feed three cats with a 3FP piece of prey and each cat will lose 10% hunger. Or you could split it between two cats, and remove 20% hunger from one, and 10% hunger from another. As an additional note, you cannot split a 1FP prey between two cats (removing -5% health for each one). Each FP can only remove -10% hunger (nothing more and nothing less)! DEFAULT & CUSTOM PREDATOR/PREY LIST (Optional) To make your explores more personalized, you’re welcome to pick what prey and/or predators will appear in your territory! This is completely optional, but if you’re interested just fill out the form below (in the code block)! Otherwise, writers will use the default list for prey and predators when replying to your posts!
1 FP = scraps, bugs 2 FP = mouse, vole, shrew, small fish 3 FP = minnow, squirrel, frog 4 FP = rabbit, bird, owl, falcon 5 FP = hawk, eagle, vulture
badger, fox, bird of prey, dog, snake Form Reminders: 1. Make sure to link your custom prey/predator list in every explore post! 2. Your prey list should have at least 1 item for each FP value! 2-3 items per FP value is ideal 3. Lists can be specific or general (i.e. mouse or small rodent) 4. Fantasy prey is allowed, but please keep your lists realistic size-wise (i.e. a bear shouldn't be prey, an eagle shouldn't be worth 1FP, etc.) 5. Your predator list should have at least 1 predator! These shouldn’t include cats (you’ll encounter these in border skirmishes) |

Bequelle's Liontails V2
B E Q U E L L E ' S - L I O N T A I L S A MYSTERIOUS UNICORN SPECIES Adopt Thread V1 - Archive - Artist Search (OPEN) [If you already own a liontail from the previous adoption thread (active 2013-2015) see below about updated lines.] E V E N T S A V A I L A B L E The Species Bequelle's Liontails are very tall, averaging between 17hh and 19hh. They have a lengthy, thick and curly mane which frequently falls over their eyes. One of their most distinguishing features is a curved horn protruding from their foreheads. This is made of bone and is attached to their skulls but they are not born with the horn; it begins to grow after a few days. The horn can grow to be up to two feet long in males. This horn is predominantly used by males for fighting, and by female to protect their young. this is why the males' horns are usually larger than females'. Key differences between males and females include the males' secondary nasal horn, a beard and extra underbelly fur. Their namesake, the lion tail is an extension of their spine and can grow to be four-five feet long. At the end, there is a tuft of curly hair similar to and the same colour as their mane, just like a lion. The movement of their tail can show their moods. Due to their large size, theoretically they could be ridden, but they are not comfortable with physical contact with humans at the best of times, so it would be difficult. Their coats are usually fairly complex, but they can be simpler too. Any coat any breed of horse can have these guys can have too, and sometimes even a combination of a few, or some never-before-seen rare coats to match their rare species. Traits most commonly seen are tobiano, overo and spots whether it be leopard or bird catcher. Discovery The Liontails were discovered by a 'nobody', French hiker Isaac Bequelle whilst climbing some of the more mountainous, sparsely inhabited areas of the country. He became separated from his group, Isaac struggled his way down the mountainy hills that sloped down into a valley. It was a mysterious area of land, that seemed entirely untoutched by humans. It brought him back to life, offering him fruit from trees and clear water to drink. It was rich with wildlife; birds, insects... and after days of surviving on his own on the brink of death he saw these creatures. The Liontails. He remembered them being large and majestic, both solitary and in large herds, and when he tried to get close, they didn't mind his presence at all. This was their land, and they had nothing to fear. After a few peaceful weeks of living with the creatures, he began to recognise their personalities and gave them names, and they too became close to him as well, letting their young play closer and closer to him. But one day, a rescue finally came for him. A helicopter flew over the valley, scouting the lands. The Liontails spooked, and they took off in various directions... as if they disappeared. When the rescue team picked up Isaac, they thought he was crazy when he told the story of these beasts, and nobody believed him. They were adamant that it was because he was dehydrated and starving to death. That they were only hallucinations. But he knows they were real. Adoption - Every so often, various designs will be released for you to adopt. It will be made clear to you which ones will be up for adoption. -You will then be able to adopt them, either by a first come first served option or answering a question, or drawing art, but this will be specified by the artist of the design. Note: amount of effort put into the form will increase your chances. - AUTOBUY: Each design will also be able to be "auto bought", which overrides any other bids for that particular Liontail. This may be for USD or a particular rare pet decided by the artist of the design. - You can own a maximum of 7 Liontails. This gives you the opportunity to own various adults and still have the opportunity to own foals. -Please do not ask to be an artist if I am not offering positions.

Just making some little adopt lines to make adopts for fun at work! All will be free; these first specific lines are songrems, but I will pretty this up and add more species of mine later when I have time
Im still working out how to do stuff on my drawin' tablet thing, just getting used to the orientation and delay to it right now this lineset includes: Songrem Sneko Opelles *more pending* You can look for/expect adopts of these species! All of my world species are Closed* Species (Except for Opelles, and Hiyoku inu, which are fully open) In the sense that I don't care if you have something similar, just don't claim its part of my headworld/my version of the physical traits if its not and don't go giving them extra traits without associated permission |

All the prompt options you may answer are listed in this post. You may choose any prompt you want to respond to. You are highly encouraged to take the time to prewrite/predraw the prompt response for your form(s), as artist slots may only be open for a small period of time. You are also encouraged to reuse the same response for each time you resubmit the form, but you may not reuse the writing/art from an accepted ticket for a new ticket. You only need to answer one prompt in your form. You must write a minimum 300 words or draw a minimum lined fullbody. PROMPT OPTIONS
ii. Write/draw** about the parent(s)* discussing / thinking about their future kittens. How do they feel about their expected kittens? What are their plans? How does this affect their lives? etc. iii. Write/draw** about the hypothetical kits from this litter. What is their planned place in your lore? What is their importance? How will their heritage affect them, if at all? etc. ** If your art includes the kittens, do not give them defined designs! The artist will not design you the kitten coats you want based on the designs in your drawing; coats are the artist's choice. You may want to leave the kittens' colors blank, as silhouettes only, or otherwise leave their features vague. |

For genetics-based breedings: xx Cat 1: This cat is designated "pregnant" or "carrying the kits." xx Cat 2: This cat is not pregnant / carrying the kits. This may affect the possible base colors of kittens, but has no effect beyond that and does not need to apply to your lore. |

RULES & GUIDELINES xx i. You may only breed with each NPC twice. This is tracked here. xx ii. Your cat will go on a 2 week cooldown after the breeding (since the NPC cannot go on cooldown). xx iii. Cats related through an NPC are still considered related and cannot have kittens together. We also have a very special group of kitties that only visit during events. These cats can be found here! Please remember they only come around once or twice a year, but they are really worth the wait (: Each event NPC has their own unique trait that will influence their kittens. Crowntail Equines V3
based on this drawing by GraveBlues
Discord | Species Guidelines | Rules | Stable Page Guide | Archive | Store Items | Custom Hub | Custom Forms Breeding Hub | Breeding Forms | Explore Game | MYOs | Artist Search | V1 & V2 Welcome to Crowntail Equines Adoption Agency! Here, you may browse our lovely selection of the infamous Crowntail, a rare and treasured equine species native to the coasts of Thailand. Lucky for you, our agency specializes in importing and breeding these beauties a little bit closer to home. These beasts are stocky and muscular, ranging from 10 to 14 hands (3 - 4 ft) at the shoulder, and can average anywhere from 900 to 1200 pounds. Despite their tranquil and elegant appearance, Crowntails are well known to be ferocious creatures, with harshly controlled dictatorship style swarms consisting of a matriarch and her offspring. In the wild these hefty equines are capable of ripping their rivals to pieces in a matter of seconds, but thankfully they are also quite tamable in captivity as they easily bond to human companions. It takes time to build a relationship with such a dangerous creature, but with lots of trust and effort they can be sweet, dorky, and ultimately lovable equines - if they choose to be. |

Looks
A Crowntail looks like an average pony, ranging from 10hh-14hh, with a lean yet sturdy build full of powerful muscles, but of course they do have a few qualities that pertain to their aquatic namesake. For starters, their unnaturally colored mane and tail closely resemble betta fish fins, specifically the crowntail variety; their long flexible quill-like 'spines' are wrapped in a fine and velvety textured webbing that bobs and flutters with their body movements. Their heel feathering is also made of a fin-type webbing, though they are much thicker with sharp tipped spines, often used for fighting purposes in the wild. Equally used for dominance is their sharp wolf-teeth, something common on the average male horse, but is seen on all crowntails regardless of gender and at much larger sizes than the average equine. Their orb like eyes are equally less equine with a bioluminescent glow in the darkness due to their lack of pupils, though their eyesight is exquisite. Their body is also covered in a very thin layer of shimmery scales, with short rough fur layered overtop. In some cases Crowntails may exhibit mutations as well, though these have yet to be documented in the wild. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Coloration The colors on the species ranges, but all patterns are described as strictly equine. It is most common to see paint-type patterns, while the rarest variation known is pure black or white. The mane and tail can appear in any coloration, natural or unnatural, though they are more regularly blended color fades in shades of blue and red. Patterning on their webbing is unusual with the exception of stripping or highlight spines, but other mutations such as spotting are possible. Their eyes, inner ears, and hooves can also sometimes present with unnatural colorations, and while their eyes do not have dark pupils, seeing multiple colors is a fairly common trait. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Behavior Crowntails are known by many other names, but none so popular as the Thai Fighting Quids. This name comes with no surprise, as these creatures are naturally ferocious fighters in the wild. They lead in a dictatorship style pack, with one Crownie guiding and protecting the swarm. If any member of the swarm is out of line, or attempts to challenge the leader in any way, they will automatically fight to the death. This is especially common with masculine presenting quids or protective parental figures. It is because of this that it is very important for their caretakers to keep domestic Crownies in very large territories, and to separate aggressive individuals to their own enclosures. For these reasons, it is not encouraged to attempt to saddle or halter even the most domestic individuals. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Diet Much like other scavengers, Crownies can eat just about anything. Their diet should be high in proteins in order to keep up the same vibrant colors in the mane and tail, however they can easily survive without meat, as most plant materials provide higher protein levels with easier digestion. It is common to find native swarms presenting their own unique food preferences, such as northern groups preferring plant roots or eastern swarms preferring aquatic algaes, but the overall consensus is the same with each; the species is VERY food motivated. In domestic groups, caretakers tend to prefer providing their swarms with grain-based diets, with the additions of raw aquatic plants such as kelp and seaweed to adhere to proper nutritional standards. Freeze dried fish or invertebrate are also encouraged, and some caretakers will even offer frozen thawed feeder rodents. Large prey items or live prey should be avoided in captivity however, as it can encourage crownies to become more food aggressive toward each other and their handlers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Health One of the many reasons that this species has been dwindling down in nature is due to a plethora of health issues. Historically, crownies would produce thousands of eggs and often raise full batches of offspring as to outmaneuver their population decline when offspring presented with certain life threatening ailments. Now a days they do not breed as rapidly, yet illness is still a major problem for them. Common health concerns include bloat due to incorrect diets, skin lesions or ammonia burns due to dirty water, eye loss and blindness due to fungal infections, hoof rot due to dry climates, and fin rot due to pollution. Many of these issues can usually be avoided in captivity with proper care, so it is incredibly important for caretakers to maintain their environment diligently. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mating When two crowntails mate, eggs are produced by an intertwining of the tails, in which DNA from both parents of any gender combines and results in a small batch of fertilized eggs. Mating occurs only in bodies of water, where the eggs will form inbetween the spines of both parents tail fins within a few minutes of locking up. The eggs will then shed off into the water to develop over the course of a two week period. One or both parents will work tirelessly to protect the eggs, blowing foamy bubbles into the water to cradle them and furiously attacking any moving thing that comes near them. Though they may produce up to a hundred eggs, only one or two eggs will have developed far enough to hatch, and any unhatched eggs will be killed or abandoned by the parents for scavengers to feast on. Newly-hatched foals are fully capable of managing on their own from this point, though most prefer to stay with their parents or integrate into the swarm for safety. In domestic swarms, it is common practice for caretakers to create man-made hatching ponds in fenced off areas where the parents can be moved in and out of the denoted spot safely. This is so that the caretakers have the ability to check on the foal's growth, while still allowing the crownies to interact with their young naturally, without getting eaten alive by the protective parents. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Habitat Wild Crowntails are said to be native to the coasts of Thailand, living in and among the muddy rivers, lakes, and especially marshlands, though the variety we have now is more commonly known as having originated from small remote island caves along the eastern american shore. Though they do not need to live in water to breathe, they do still require large bodies of fresh or salt water in order to properly forage and breed. The most preferred water sources are bayshores with freshwater rivers and saltwater marshes connected to it. Crownies can technically live like any other equine, settled in stables and barns with large pastures to explore and feed in, however it is unhealthy for a Crownie to go long without access to submersible-deep water. To accommodate their needs when living farther inland, barns are usually fitted with saltwater misters in the ceilings, shallow freshwater pools on the floor of each stall, and of course a large lake or pond somewhere within the pasture. The more clean cycled water that is available the happier, healthier and more vibrant-looking your swarm will be! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mutations Some crowntails have been known to show certain mutations. These are usually very rare, and they tend to affect the crownies behavior and abilities. Below is a list of all known mutations along with passing rates and how it may affect the crowntail. Colored Scales | 60% Passing Rate | Crowntails with unnaturally colored sections of scales on their body tend to have more sensitive skin. It's important to keep them very clean and avoid salt water as this can cause sores or brittle scales. They often prefer running rivers/streams. Slit Pupils | 50% Passing Rate | Slit pupils have little affect on behavior, but often decreases their eyesight slightly. They may be clumsier or less agile when hunting. This altered body language may also cause other crowntails to outcast them. They tend to not last long in the wilds. Facial and/or Hoof Fluff | 40% Passing Rate | Crowntails found in cooler climates or areas with harsher winter tempatures have mutated to show extra fluff and thicker fur. This is much more commonly seen in captivity. With this thicker fur, they can sometimes overheat more easily, so cool water or good ventilation is a must. Curled Ears | 30% Passing Rate | Curled ears, otherwise known as marwari ears, has little affect on the health or behavior of crowntails. Some offspring do have issues with hearing for the first few days unlike hatchlings with regular ears, but this goes away with adulthood. Gills | 20% Passing Rate | In some flooded climates, a few crowntail swarms have evolved to having gills. These gills are fully functional and allow the crowntail to breath under water for extended periods of time. It also causes them to tire more easily out of water however, and makes it impossible for them to breathe well at higher altitudes. They can also be more prone to fin rot or ammonia burns, due to being waterlogged constantly and entering dirty waters out of desperation. Fantail Fins | 10% Passing Rate | A seemingly random mutation, fantail crownies do not appear to have any major complications in young specimins. Their fins are slightly more delicate and may tear more easily, but not at a concerning rate. In some older fantail finned crownies however, it's been noted that the fins grow in length significantly and become much heavier to maneuver, which may cause them to tire more easily. Because of this, elderly crowntails with this mutation are very rarely ever seen surviving well out in the wild, and captive fantailed equines may require more regular fin trimming to help take some strain off their aging joints. Fin nipping, a common self-mutilation behavior akin to parrots plucking their feathers, may arise in some extreme cases. Horns | 5% Passing Rate | The rarest trait a crowntail can have is horns or boney growths of some form. These are always unique to the individual (custom lined) and can appear anywhere on the body in any shape. These can appear as almost anything - ramshorns, antlers, spiraled horns, unicorn horns, elbow/leg/cheek spikes, really any number of unique shapes. Horns are often used in battle and as such a horned crowntail is usually always a dominant figure, leading large swarms and securing many mates. Those keeping more aggressive or difficult crownies in their herd may seek out well trained horned crowntails to help keep everyone safe and the unruly herd members under control, so they are highly sought after and unfortunately often illegally poached from their native wild herds. |
